Toodie’s Fine Jewelry began on the second-floor of an old brownstone building on Hancock Street in Quincy, MA over 40 years ago. Toodie Davis, the original owner and founder of the shop, started out as a young woman with nothing but a dream, a passion for knowledge and hard work and her trusty hammer.
Ms. Davis was highly experienced in jewelry making before ever opening the store – she had been working in her family’s business for several years prior to owning her own shop. With very few resources to start out with, she relied on sheer will power to create beautiful pieces of jewelry from scratch by hand-hammering precious metals into various designs – something she had learned from her father when she was a child living in rural New England.
These days, Toodie’s is still family managed – although now Ms Davis’ three grandchildren help take care of customer orders and invoices. However, Ms. Davis still creates one-of-a-kind custom jewelry pieces right there at the shop whenever asked by fans near and far.
