Kyanite Jewelry

Kyanite is a blue silicate mineral found in aluminum-rich metamorphic rocks. The name kyanite is derived from the Greek word kuanos, meaning dark blue.

Kyanite is a gemstone with a hardness of 6 to 7 on the Mohs scale. It is found in a wide variety of colors, including blue, green, yellow, white, and colorless. The blue variety is the most common.

Kyanite is used as a gemstone and as an industrial mineral. It is used to make refractory bricks for high-temperature furnaces and to make abrasives.

Kyanite is a member of the plagioclase feldspar group. The plagioclase feldspars are a series of minerals that range in composition from sodium-rich to calcium-rich. Kyanite is the calcium-rich member of the series.

The blue color of kyanite is caused by the presence of small amounts of aluminum oxide in the mineral. The aluminum oxide absorbs blue light and reflects the other colors.

Kyanite is found in a wide variety of metamorphic rocks, including gneiss, schist, and marble. It is also found in pegmatite veins and in some granite intrusions.

Kyanite is usually found with other minerals, such as quartz, mica, and feldspar. It is usually not found in large enough quantities to be used as a gemstone.

Jewelry Buying

Tips

When you are buying jewelry, it is important to keep in mind the “4 Cs.” The “Four Cs” of diamonds stand for Carat, Cut, Clarity, and Color. Here are some tips on how to think about each one:

Carat weight is how a diamond is measured and is the size of the diamond.

Cut is how well the diamond has been cut and includes the height, depth, angles, and other factors. It affects the diamond’s symmetry, brightness, fire, and how sparkly the diamond appears.

Clarity is how many blemishes or inclusions and is judged on a 6 point scale from included to flawless.

Color is judged on a scale from D (no hue) to Z (a yellow hued diamond).

When you are looking at diamonds, you should also consider the “5th C,” which is the cost. You should consider how much you are willing to spend on a diamond and what you want the diamond to be used for. For example, if you are looking for an engagement ring, you may want to spend more on a diamond than if you are just looking for a necklace.
