Effy Jewelry Lawsuit
In November of 2016, Effy Jewelry filed a lawsuit against Costco Wholesale Corporation. The lawsuit alleged that Costco had engaged in false advertising by advertising and selling Effy Jewelry products at prices that were lower than the prices at which Effy Jewelry sold its products.
Effy Jewelry is a designer and retailer of jewelry and other luxury items. It is headquartered in New York City and has stores in a number of states, including California. Costco is a warehouse retailer with stores throughout the United States. It is headquartered in Issaquah, Washington.
The lawsuit alleged that, beginning in early 2016, Costco began advertising and selling Effy Jewelry products at prices that were lower than the prices at which Effy Jewelry sold its products. For example, Costco advertised a 14-karat white gold diamond ring from Effy Jewelry for $999.99, while Effy Jewelry was selling the same ring for $1,799.99.
